I joined LinkedIn when it started up and I really didn’t find it very useful. I made connections with those people I knew on LinkedIn and it never seemed to amount to much more than that. But over the past year my view of LinkedIn has changed.
You can join groups related to your industry. You can post links and messages similar to twitter. You can form a group for your company or project. You can do job searches and post job offers. There are webinars and industry reports to be found on a lot of the group sites.

These groups are not only a good way to stay up to date with news, but also make connections with people in your industry.
